The main areas that you should review in the summer are:
*Addition and subtraction facts (sums to 10)
*Adding and subtracting two digit numbers
*Adding and subtracting two digit numbers
*Telling time
* Money
I have some fun math websites links to games and worksheets below that allow children to practice these skills. You may also want to make or buy flashcards to help your child practice. Dollar stores have flashcards in most (if not all) of the categories I listed above.
Games are also a great way to practice math in a fun way. Even adding dice quickly is a great way to get your child more comfortable with their addition facts!
Give your child a handful of coins. Begin by having them sort the coins into like groups. Have them identify the coins and their values and then help them count them. Do NOT have them count them out of order. This can confuse and frustrate them. Have them count all the quarters, then all the dimes… etc.
